Clay Wimberley discusses the advantages of the Wimberley Safety Stop Screws, the Arca-Swiss mounting standard, and Wimberley Lens Plates. Safety stops at the front and back of Wimberley Lens Plates keep your expensive lens from accidentally slipping out of the quick-release clamp. (If you wish to use only one or neither of these stops, simply remove them with the hex key provided.) The "Arca-Swiss Style" Quick-Release Geometry refers to the open-cavity dovetail quick-release system developed decades ago by Arca-Swiss for use with their Monoball ball heads and large format cameras. After the extreme popularity of the Arca-Swiss B-1 ball head in the 1990s, other companies began manufacturing custom camera-body and lens plates using this geometry. Since then, this geometry has become the industry standard for high-end tripod heads (particularly in the nature photography industry). The Wimberley Head Version II and the Wimberley Sidekick use this quick-release system, so any lens that you wish to connect to our heads must be equipped with an Arca-Swiss style lens plate. Manufacturers that use the Arca-Swiss Style Quick-Release Geometry include: Acratech, Arca-Swiss, Foba, Giottos (only on their most recent line of ball heads & plates), Kirk, Markins, Novoflex (only on some of their products), Really Right Stuff, Studioball, and of course Wimberley. Wimberley is a father-son partnership dedicated to the design and manufacture of the highest quality professional photography equipment. We make tripod gimbal heads for large telephoto lenses, macro accessories, modular flash brackets, Arca-Swiss style quick-release clamps & plates, and more... http://www.tripodhead.com/

P-5 Arca-Swiss Style Universal Camera Body Plate, 3" Long
Wimberley's P-5 Universal Camera Body Plate has a thin layer of dense, textured rubber on its top surface which grips the bottom of your camera, yet maintains the same solid feel that you get with a metal-to-camera connection.
Beneath the rubber, the top surface of the plate has a wide, shallow cut-out running across the middle of the plate. This cut-out ensures that the frictional force is concentrated on the outer portions of the plate providing the maximum mechanical advantage to resist twisting. The result is a plate that is very solidly attached to your camera body, and will not twist.
As a universal plate there is no need to buy a new plate when you buy a new camera. It can be used on your camera with or without the vertical grip attached. The P-5 works with camera bodies, point-and-shoot cameras, medium format cameras, and even collared lenses. It also features the same unique dual safety stops found on Wimberley lens plates.
Includes a 5 year warranty.
Please see the Specifications tab below for additional information.
Fits virtually any SLR, as well as many point-and-shoot cameras; no need to buy a new plate each time you upgrade your gear. Easily move from camera to camera or share plates between multiple cameras.
Wimberley specifically designed the P-5 to provide a solid, twist-free connection to your camera body.
How It Works
The P-5 features a thin layer of dense, textured rubber on its top surface. This coating grips the bottom of your camera, but is so dense and thin that it maintains the solid feel of a metal-to-camera connection. Beneath the rubber, the top surface of the plate is machined to ensure that the frictional force is concentrated on the outer portions of the plate. This provides the maximum mechanical advantage to resist twisting.
Lightweight at 1.4oz (40.8g)
A hollowed-out underside and lack of flanges or extensions on top minimizes bulk and weight.
Dual Safety Stops
The P-5 features the same unique dual safety stops found on our lens plates.
The P-5's thin profile and generously rounded corners make it easy on the hands; it blends beautifully with the contours of your camera.
Threaded Hole for Non-Quick Release Applications
For further versatility, the P-5 offers a third hole that is threaded and can be used to attach your camera to a ¼″ stud on a tripod head platform without the need for a quick-release clamp.
